Music Dept. Students Attend Central District Band/Choir Auditions
On Saturday, November 18 instrumentalists and singers from the Music Department traveled to Medway High School to audition for the Central District- Massachusetts Music Educators Association (CDMMEA) Festival.
The annual Central District Festival consists of a Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Choir, with a performance on January 13th at the historic Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA.
Accepted students are given a selection of pieces to master, largely independently before the rehearsals also held in January. Once again, North Middlesex Regional High School will be hosting the CD rehearsals in 2024. This will be the third year the school is a host.
North Middlesex will be sending an outstanding 10 instrumentalists and 7 singers to the festival this year. Accepted musicians include: Brienna Duteau (Flute ‘25), Nolan Caputo (Clarinet ‘24), Colin Miranda (Clarinet ‘26), Kelly Giancotti (Oboe ‘24), Jack Anderson (Trumpet ‘24), Nate Stoupis (Trumpet ‘24), Ryan Bailey (Euphonium ‘25), Qenan Francois (Bass Clarinet ‘25), Adam Manni (Tenor Sax. ‘25), Kellyn Whitaker (F. Horn ‘25), Lacey Gardener (Voice ‘24), Katie Porier (Voice ‘24), Mark Kingsbury (Voice ‘24), Vivian Henry (Voice ‘24), Liz Loprinze (‘24), Kate Babine (Voice ‘26), and Sam Thomas (Voice ‘24).
High performers in CDMMEA auditions may also be given an ‘All-State Recommendation’ which is a requirement to audition for the MMEA All-State Festival which bring the best of the best from all over the state to perform at the renowned Symphony Hall in Boston.
