NM Students Perform at Mechanic's Hall

 

On Saturday, January 13th over 450 musicians from over 50 different schools in Massachusetts traveled to Worcester’s famed Mechanics Hall for the 67th annual MMEA Senior Central District Festival.

The festival included 4 performing groups including a Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Chorus under the direction of well respected experts in their fields. 17 North Middlesex Students were accepted across all 4 groups.

Each group performed a variety of challenging repertoire by a span of classical and modern composers like Bizet, Holst, Bach, Shostakovich and more. Two of the most notable and recognizable pieces played were by the orchestra under the direction of Tobias Monte included Jupiter, from “The Planets” and Les Toreadors, Carmen Suite No. 1. which have become the foremost staples of “Classical Music”.

The venue was at max capacity clocking in just under 1,300 guests in attendance.

Next week several select students will be traveling to Shrewsbury High School to audition for the All-State Festival which brings young, talented musicians together from all over the state.
