Pats Pride Provides NM Students with Resources

Do you or a loved one have any needs that are not being met? Or maybe would just like a snack or a change of clothes throughout the day? These are some reasons why the Pats Pride pantry exists. It contains resources such as snacks, clothes, hygiene products, and water bottles. Founded by Mrs. Connor and Ms. Hancock, the pantry is meant to meet the needs of students and can be found in room 265.

A partnership with the TEO has allowed the pantry to flourish, it once started out as a collection of clothing and snacks but now holds an abundance of items. The rise of the pantry was mostly organic and grew alongside students’ needs.

To keep the pantry running, Mrs. Connor and Ms. Hancock need to keep track of the number of items used so they can continue to receive grants from the TEO and to network with the community. The ultimate goal is to establish a pantry at every school in the district to meet the needs of every student.

There are no restrictions on who has access to the pantry and anyone is allowed to take what they need. Donations are accepted as well, with small and extra small male clothing, large and extra large female clothing, childrens clothes, sneakers, and snacks being the most needed right now.

Connor asks that prospective donors refrain from any major donations besides the essentials until they have completed the process of setting up a centralized location in the main office. Food items can be and will continue to be stored in Mrs. Connor’s room, Ms. Hancock’s room, and the nurses office.
